Our story
We launched in 2016 as a collaboration between the Lancashire County Council (LCC) and London Pensions Fund Authority (LPFA), ahead of the Government plan to create pools from the 89 Local Government Pension Schemes (LGPS), LCC and LPFA took the decision to pool their assets to reduce cost and improve performance. LPP is now one of eight national Local Government pools.

Today we manage around £19.8 billion of pensions assets for our investors and provide pensions administration services for more than 600,000 LGPS, Police and Firefighters’ pension scheme members across over 1,900 employers.

Our in-house investment team now manage eight investment pooling vehicles, including two Authorised Contractual Scheme, and are the appointed Alternative Investment Fund Manager for GLIL Infrastructure LLP; an investment platform that was originally a partnership between LPFA and Greater Manchester Pension Fund which has since widened its membership and now has £2.3 billion of committed capital. Each of our funds has an emphasis on long-term viability and returns.

For most of our large pension fund clients, LPP provides an end-to-end pension services partnership covering investment, administration and risk management. We also offer standalone services such as pension administration.

With strong roots in both the public and private sectors, we continue to foster an entrepreneurial culture that aims to promote innovation, seeking best practice from around the globe that can help us improve services and lower costs.

LPP has a commercial “profit for clients” ethos that ensures all monies generated are used for the mutual benefit of clients and shareholders. This guiding philosophy ensures we are completely aligned to the needs of our clients and shareholders. We see ourselves as an asset owner rather than an asset manager.
